How to improve CNC plasma cutting machine nozzles service life

CNC plasma cutting machine consumables include the cutting nozzle, the electrode, the swirl ring , the retaining cap and the shield. In order to save our customers' cost, How to prolong the service life of these plasma machine consumables?

1, ensure air compressor pressure stability:

The correct pressure value and speed of CNC plasma cutting machine is very important for the life of consumables. If the air pressure is too high, the life of the electrode will be greatly reduced. If the air pressure is too low, the life of the nozzle will be affected.

2, use the appropriate cutting distance:

In accordance with the requirements of the instructions, use the reasonable cutting distance (the distance between the cutting nozzle and the surface of the steel plate), when the perforation, as far as possible the normal cutting distance of 2 times the distance or the maximum height that can be transmitted by the plasma arc.

3. The perforation thickness should be within the permissible range of the plasma machine system: the cutting machine can not perforate over the working thickness of the steel plate, and the usual thickness of the perforation is normal cutting thickness.

4, Plasma cutting nozzles do not overload use: let the nozzle overload (that is, more than the working current of the nozzle), will soon damage the nozzle. The current intensity should be 95% of the working current of the nozzles. For example, the current intensity of the nozzle of 100A should be set to 95A.

5, Keep the plasma gas dry and clean: plasma system needs dry and clean plasma gas to work normally. Dirty gas is usually a problem of gas compression system, which will shorten the service life of the expendable parts and cause abnormal damage. The method of testing the quality of the gas is to set the cutting torch in the test state, put a mirror under it, and consume the gas in the cutting torch. If the gas and fog appear on the mirror, it needs to find out the reason and correct it.

6, Plasma cutting should start with the edge of steel: cut from edge as far as possible, and do not cut holes. Using the edge as the starting point will prolong the life of the consumable parts. The correct method is to directly spray the nozzle on the edge of the steel and then start the plasma arc.

7, Avoid the elongated expansion of CNC plasma cutting machine arc: if the plasma arc has only elongated extension to contact the surface of the workpiece, the plasma arc will produce such stretching and expansion at the beginning and end of cutting, which will cause abnormal damage to the nozzle. This problem can be avoided if the right edge start technique is adopted and the appropriate "broken arc" signal time is chosen.

8, Reduce the unnecessary "arc" time: the consumption of the nozzle and electrode when starting arc is very fast. Before starting, the cutting torch should be placed within the cutting distance of the cutting metal.

9, apply anti splash chemical paint on the protective shell: splashing chemical paint helps to reduce the accumulation of slag on the protective shell. But we must remove the protective shell from the cutting torch before coating the splash proof paint.

10. Remove the molten slag on the protective shell: the slag on the cutting torch protective shell should be removed frequently, otherwise the slag will cause destructive heavy plasma arc.

11. Remove the gas after replacing the consumables: after replacing the consumption piece or the longer time stop, the gas should be cleared (2~3 minutes) to ensure that the water and fog are discharged from the cutting torch.

12, Try to keep the plasma cutting torch and consumption parts clean: any dirt on the cutting torch and expendable will greatly affect the function of the plasma system. When replacing the consumables, put them on the clean flannelette, check the connecting thread of the cutting torch, and use the hydrogen peroxide cleaner to clean the electrode contact surface and the nozzle.

13, Remove oxide from air or oxygen nozzles: when air or oxygen plasma is selected, the oxide will be deposited in the nozzle. This oxide will affect the air flow and reduce the life of the expendable. Wipe the inner side of the nozzle with clean flannelette to eliminate oxide.

14, Use softened water into the cutting torch

Hard water will precipitate metal impurities on the nozzle ring, which will affect the flow of airflow, reduce the quality of the cutting torch and shorten the life of the consumable parts.

15. Check the airflow and cooling flow Daily: one of the most common causes of the damage is the lack of cooling flow. It is necessary to check the air and pressure of the cutting torch (such as air cooling) or the coolant (such as water cooling). If the CNC plasma cutting machine air flow is not found enough or leaked, the failure should be shut down immediately.
